Coffee on the porch with Mom and Dale in the a.m. Madison, the family cat, had been stuck on the porch all night. She hightailed it to her box when Dale opened the door. She was back soon enough to sit with us. They boys woke up and joined us on the porch with their Imaginext toys and Lincoln Logs from the party last night.
Breakfast at about 8:30.
Sam, Dale and I went to church with Mom at 10:30 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Leavenworth. When we arrived the rosary was being led by a couple of women with very nasal monotone voices. The mass itself was very nice.
In the afternoon we drove in to Kansas City to take the boys to go to Science City at the Depot. Calvin's friend Diego came along with us. The boys really enjoyed it. Before getting to the Depot we drove by the Liberty Memorial which is a memorial to the fallen soldiers of World War I. It was quite beautiful. We had to take a slight detour to get to the parking ramp for the Depot as the grounds near there were getting set up for a free orchestra concert and firework show for Memorial Day weekend. After hanging out in the Depot we took a pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks to a restaurant called Jack Stack Barbeque. There was outdoor seating that looked over the railroad tracks and you could watch trains go by. Kansas City's downtown has had a lot of nice developments since Dale and I were there last. I really liked seeing how much was going on near the railroad tracks. It was all quite beautiful.
