Trip to Emma's Baptism 4

Dale, Mom, and I had breakfast in the hotel lobby at 8:00 this morning. Dale forgot to bring blades from home so we hiked to Walgrees's to get some. I got a couple more shots of the Des Moines Building. There are taped x's across most I the building's windows so Dale and I are assuming that the building is empty and being renovated. I love the look of this old building and am intrigued by the whole art deco era.

Trip to Emma's Baptism 3

Dinner tonight at a restaurant called Django. Dale found it online when doing some advance planning for this trip. They bill themselves as a French restaurant without the attitude. The food was good. I had the duck cassoulet, Mom had the scallops, and Dale had the salmon. It was all quite good. For dessert Mom and I shared the pot de creme which was VERY chocolate-y and VERY good. I had a vesper martini for a cocktail. On the walk back to the hotel I snapped the above photo. It was a lovely evening for a stroll.

Trip to Emma's Baptism 2

We made it to the Hyatt Place hotel at 5:45. The building in the photo is the Des Moines Building. I love the art Deco style. I took the photo from our hotel room.
