Brenda and Irv took us to dinner at Village in this morning. So happy to spend time with them.
Afternoon cigar. Dale joined me for some conversation. About 60 degrees. Gorgeous in the direct sun.
Brenda and Irv came over for dinner. Again, so nice to be with them. Dale and I made a nice salmon quiche. It was a hit.
Spooky.

Hot tub this morning.
Not as warm today. Windy too.
Dale and I took a nice walk near the dog park.
I love the desert.
Especially the saguaros.
This is one of the more unique ones we've seen. I've never seen one that looks quite so wavy.
Headed into the city for the happy hour at Hula's Modern Tiki.
Tiki drinks are only $8.00 each during happy hour. Pictured is the Blood Orange Martini. Not over sweet and the blood oranges provide a nice sharpness which gives it a great bite. Dale had wine.
Had the Crispy Fish Bites as an appetizer. So delicious.
For dinner we each had Caesar salads. Dale got his with tuna but I had mine with shrimp. Again, delicious.
Lit up a stogie upon arriving back at home. Had a little Knob Creek with it.
In bed by 10:00!

Woke up early around 4:15 a.m. (5:15 Minneapolis time which is when I usually get up). Above photos taken around 7:30 a.m. as the sun was rising. Noticed the awesome cactus next door is not there anymore.
Took a soak in the hot tub around 8:00 a.m. Water hadn't completely heated up yet although it was warmer than the air temperature.
The oranges in the back yard are looking good. Dale says they taste delicious.
Dale had to work but I relaxed and got a couple nice walks in. Lunch at the club and then we went shopping for a baseball cap for me.
It got quite a bit warmer than I expected. A little too warm for the jeans and track jacket I was wearing.
Got to Brenda and Irv's around 4 p.m. for cocktail. Had a nice visit. So good to see them!
Stopped by the grocery store on the way home to get dinner makings. Temp had cooled down a bit by the time we got home. Before dinner I had a cigar and a cocktail...
and another soak in the tub.
Dinner of chicken, broccoli, and cornbread. Watched Big Bang Theory. Dessert of red velvet cake.

Dale's been in Phoenix the past two weeks visiting Brenda and Irv while Dianne and John are on a cruise to Antarctica. I hopped on a plane shortly at MSP after school today and got into Phoenix around 11:00 p.m. So good to see Dale!
Not a bad flight and dinner was delicious. I selected the spare ribs with carrots and mashed potatoes. The sauce was savory. Had a couple Bloody Marys too.
Landed about 10:45 Phoenix time. Dale picked me up shortly after.

Got packed up this morning.
Returned home by this afternoon. It really is quite pretty from above.
You can see the Minneapolis skyline in the center of the above photo if you squint or enlarge the photo ;). Some of the Minneapolis chain of lakes are just below downtown - Cedar Lake to the left, Lake of the Isles in the center, and Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun) to the right.

Phoenix July 2023 - Quiet Day

Quiet day today. Dianne and John got back from their travels yesterday. They took Brenda, Irv, Dale, and me out for brunch this morning to celebrate our anniversaries.
The rest of the day was quiet and restful. The above photos were taken around 7:30 p.m. As it became darker we could see lightning in the distance. Didn't get any rain here though.
